Double Check
Ensure your ceremony and reception locations are clearly marked for guests but providing a map in your invites and signage on the day. If you’re thinking of having at least part of your wedding outdoors, remember to prepare for the elements.

Consider large garden umbrellas over round tables or a marquee. If it does happen to rain, embrace it! A misty background is a beautiful backdrop to any photo and will add variety
to your wedding album.

Decor
Think endless strands of fairy lights and lanterns in the trees, coloured flags or bunting fluttering in the breeze, and an abundance of flowers filling the air with a heavenly scent. Sprawling marquees can provide shelter from the elements while smaller tepees can be set up for children to play in once the formalities are over. Alternatively, a barn or farmhouse can help create an authentic country feel and will create an intimate setting for the reception.

If ‘rustic chic’ is your style, look for long heavy-set wooden tables where your guests can dine together. If a garden party wedding is more your style, organise afternoon games like croquet or bocce. Set out picnic blankets and baskets filled with treats for your guests to nibble on between the ceremony and the reception and add quirky touches like a lemonade stand.

Check List
If you’re setting up on grass, think about whether you need some protective flooring to prevent high heels and chairs from sinking. Couples who are having an outdoor reception will need audio equipment for speeches and music so establish how you are going to source power.

Final touches
Wedding favours: create mini picnic baskets for your guests to take home with them. Tie small name cards to them so they act as a place setting as well.
