Celebrating 20 years of Paddington Weddings

It's their 20th birthday this year and the celebrations just keep rolling on for local label Bertossi Brides for Paddington Weddings with three wins at the 2012 Queensland Brides Design Awards. This tight-knit and talented team demonstrated their creative skill and amazing eye for fabrics to an appreciative crowd, taking home Runner Up in the Couture category and Highly Commended in both the Bride Nouveau and People's Choice categories.

Paddington Weddings has been a bridal institution in Brisbane ever since designer Anne Bertossi first opened the doors to her Paddington bridal boutique 20 years ago.

When she arrived in Australia in 1991, English-born Bertossi found work in a Brisbane bridal boutique but soon noticed the need for simple and elegant dresses suitable for the humid Queensland climate.

Bertossi soon established her own eponymous label, Bertossi Brides, specialising in elegant handcrafted gowns made from the highest quality European fabrics.

Housed exclusively at Paddington Weddings, it wasn't long before Bertossi Brides gained a loyal following with women flying in from all over the country for a chance to wear one of the romantic gowns.

All of Bertossi's gowns are designed, crafted, and finished in-house, by her small tight-knit team who carefully sew each dress to artisan perfection.

This attention to detail is reflected in the finished product with each Bertossi Brides gown encapsulating a sense of timeless elegance.

To ensure that each dress is stunningly unique, Bertossi and her sister Gill travel to Paris every year to select the finest fabrics and lace exclusive to Bertossi Brides.

This annual trek is one of the most important steps in the design process for Bertossi who admits to being "obsessed" with the luxurious fabrics she finds there.

The attention to the detail in the gowns is also reflected in-store where Bertossi and her team focus on creating a personalised experience for every customer.

Renowned for their customer service, Bertossi and her team work closely with the bride from the first to final fitting, ensuring that each stitch is perfectly placed and sewn.

Bertossi's has infused her 2012 collection of classic and timeless dresses with a modern twist, emphasising lace V necks, interesting details like portrait backs and peplum skirts, and silk full-flowing skirts.

What a HUGE weekend!

Well, here we are in the week following one of our biggest of the year!
The Queensland Brides Wedding & Honeymoon Expo was held at the Brisbane Convention Centre last weekend and what a great success it was (again!). It kicked off Friday night with our fashion extravaganza - the Queensland Brides Design Awards (see the full list of winners here!) - and carried right through to Sunday afternoon. Over 4,500 visitors attended to see the best of the Queensland wedding industry on display ... and from all reports, they did not leave disappointed!

We'll be wrapping up the full show over the coming weeks with great images & video footage of the awards as well as the daily fashion parades (we know there are lots of you hanging on some of these images of your dream dresses!) ...
